About Canditv® (Call and Interact)
Why Canditv®?
Canditv® offers a very simple two way communication and information exchange, combining
and extending the benefits of standard screens, kiosks and touch screen to connect
people to an organisation’s content when they are out and about.
This means that anyone can now use their mobile telephone like a TV remote to access
and navigate information displayed on public facing screens or digital advertising
displays at any time of day or night. Canditv® works using any phone on any network
and extends access to content and advertisements simply by dialling a local rate
or ‘free’ dial back number.
Canditv® immediately closes the communication loop without the need for people to
go away and follow up. It enables customers to select what they want to view, download
information, make a reservation or purchase, speak to an assistant, listen to audio,
request a call-back, offer feedback and generally interact in a way never before
possible.
Because each screen has a unique telephone number associated to it, each screen’s
content can be time and location specific, and include connected communications
e.g. having just booked a hotel you may be interested in local restaurants which
you could book in a single communication.
The content displayed on screen is automatically drawn from the information or service
provider’s website, which means that once the website is updated, so is the information
displayed across the whole network of screens.
With customers opting in to use the service, a back-office database builds a profile
of each caller, helping you to learn about your customers, their interests and habits,
so that future communications and promotions can be further refined.
What problem is Canditv® helping to solve?
For the public (customer):
- Thanks to the Internet at home and in the office, we are all thirsty for information.
However, when on the move, information and services are not so easily accessible.
For information and service providers:
- Attracting new customers in a cost effective and targeted way.
- Getting your message across or providing your service, whatever time of day or night.
- Extending your reach beyond your traditional store, office, venue or web presence.
- Understanding more about your customers, their interests and habits.
- Promoting offers and updates directly based on known interests.
- Gaining real-time customer feedback.
How has the market responded?
Posters are being replaced by revolving advertising and video on screens and digital
signage. The moving images are interesting and capture attention, but viewers have
no means to select what they want to view and have no immediate way to register
their interest or find out more without going to an office or store, or to a website
if remembered.
Touch screen and kiosks offer selection, but the communication process is generally
one way, with limited means to take any information or offers away with you. Because
they need touch to control, vandalism and maintenance is an issue.
SMS and Bluetooth campaigns promote two way interaction but only about a single
offer or promotion and are subject to security vulnerabilities and network contention.
Smart phones offer the Internet in your pocket, and one day perhaps the ultimate
solution. However, only a minority of the population currently has a smart phone.
An even smaller minority use them for anything other than email, checking the weather,
news or sport. A number of issues still exist such as limited screen size, download
speed, and the ability to access specific time/location targeted information and
promotions, some of which may be linked, without being bombarded with messages to
your handset.
