Steve Buxton, Head of PR, Stoke City Football Club
“Supporters have been able to vote for their man of the match at grounds around the country for a long time now, but we are the first in the world to incorporate the giant screen into it. We have also worked alongside CandiTV to produce a number of games, the first of which will be used tomorrow, and we are extremely confident that this and the new man of the match voting system will be a huge success.”
Following the introduction of a giant 44 square metre screen, Stoke City Football Club partnered with Canditv to introduce supporter participation and interaction both for pre-match entertainment and during the game to register man of the match votes.
A 27,500 capacity crowd has the ability to compete against each other simultaneously in a series of games, whilst also being able to call in their 'Man of the Match‘, during the second half, watching the votes build up on screen.
With traditional pre-match supporter entertainment restricted to on-field performances, the club is the first to introduce mass supporter participation involving the entire crowd. All participants are entered into a free prize draw or receive an SMS voucher code to redeem in club shops, whilst the data captured by the club enables it to respond to supporter interests and pass on promotional offers.
Benefits:
- Simple To Use – Fans simply have to dial a telephone number to take part.
- Revenue generating – either for the club or charity of its choice.
- Supporter entertainment – helps keep thousands of fans entertained and involved.
- Data gathering – presents the club with an opportunity to present offers and promotions directly to supporters driving traffic to club outlets.
- Enhanced sponsorship package - increase revenues on the basis of further brand exposure through text messages responses and on screen presence association with a particular application.
